It is a harsh reality of the Indian film industry that most newcomers and aspiring film artistes have to sleep with producers, directors, actors, film financiers, underworld mafia and others including agents / brokers, in order to get a role in their films. The actresses hailing from the film fraternity may not be forced into it, but the newcomers are all invariably exposed to this sexual gratification as a 'quid pro quo'. Sometimes even established actresses compromise themselves sexually to bag offers in big banner films.
The name of the lurid game is 'Casting Couch' and it applies to both female and male. It is an universal secret that everyone knows, many personally experience, but none ready to openly admit. The compulsive curse of the 'Casting Couch' is a sad reality that is commonly prevalent at each and every stage in the film industry in various forms.
This lecherous way of life is simply and most conveniently considered an occupational hazard in the Indian film industry. The level of lechery in the film industry would put even our randy stray street dogs to shame. No one can ever dream of making it big unless they are completely compromised on the casting couch in order to climb the slippery success ladder.
Suchitra Krishna , now a Bollywood star, (not very long ago) wrote on her personal (shared online writing page) about her experiences as a young woman trying to break into the industry. "I remember many years ago, while still in my teens, I had gone to meet a very successful producer (related to/looking at/thinking about) a film role at a fancy and comfortable suburban hotel.... They were looking for a new face to launch." He asked her about school and family, the producer instructed the teenager to inform her parents that she'd be spending the night in the hotel with him. When, instead, she left, he said, "I know you are a good girl but if you want to become an actress you have to do it! So and so and so and so (he named some of the top league actresses of that time) ... do it. She do it and even she do it! They are my discovery. Everybody has to do it."
Some actresses have confessed that they have been asked sexual favors. But how many actually are really involved are known only to them.
If she's a daughter of an already known actor, then definitely not. Is she's a newcomer from outside the industry, then chances are extremely high that she has to.
Though this doesn't apply to every debut actress, but it does apply to a lot of them.
Actors and actresses who are new but do have family connections with the film world do not do this, but newcomers i.e. those who don't have any connections with the film world do sacrifice their chastity for getting roles. Casting couch is a reality in Hindustani, Tamil and Malayalam film world. In other film worlds it is not that rampant. Every newcomer who suddenly became a star has surely slept with a producer, director or fellow actors or must have committed a sin. Casting couch was perhaps not that rampant before 1980.
One of friend work in Tollywood, He told me that (Telugu Film Industry) If an girl / women wants to be an actress she has to screw. But if the female from film background can be survive. I cant belive him but I've asked many of them who's well known about the film industry.
Specially most of the directors they screws the new comers.
